Last week out of the Blue I received a phone call from the Company the Manufactures Blades for Husqvarna Blue Bird.  They had a new design for the Dog Fence Blade they were sending me to try.

A few years ago I had met with the Company President.  He contends that his hands are tied because they build Blades to Blue Bird Specifications.  Until Bluebird engineers redesigned the Blades he was powerless to make changes on his own.

  1. Got a part number for that new blade? Mine just failed almost identically to yours, I checked the blade, got a missing tooth. I suspect the vibration took out the bearing.

    Thanks

    1. The dog fence blade I received from http://leonardimfg.com/ was prototype. So far I haven't seen it on a machine. The person you need to contact is Jody Kerr at Bluebird. mention the blog

    2. Thanks. I misunderstood though, it's the edger blade that broke on ours. Not really impressed by the blade carrier design, to much lateral load, I foresee lots of down time. That being said, it's a nice machine to use, when it's not breaking.

    3. A few years ago I saw a beefier bed blade at the rental show however Bluebird never offered it as a replacement as they had promised. If you read some of the improvements I recommend, most like tightening the sloppy tolerances is as simple as a setting the lathe when machining the hub. I was told the cost to make the hub shaft assembly one piece, My guess that adding a bead of weld would cost less than a dollar.
